During the period of 19-26 May youth workers from Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey and Italy had an opportunity to share experience, ideas and works in non-formal education and to become acquainted with other countries‘ achievements in the project „Go Non Formal” organised by „School of Success”.
According to the organizers, the main idea of this project is to prove the effectiveness and benefit of non-formal education. During the project, 16 participants from different parts of the world attended formal and non-formal Lithuanian institutions, had meetings with politicians, workers from education system and volunteers. Youth workers not only shared impressions and suggestions about a successful non-formal education, but also discussed education system, the future of non-formal education and methods in specially created workshops.
„Non-formal education is education that consists of two essential elements: enthusiastic student that knows what he would like to learn and well-organized environment where he can fulfill his expectations. There is no description of non-formal education, only experience can tell about it”, says Neslihan Demirel, youth worker from Turkey. According to her, even though „Go Non Formal” is not the first project she has participated in, but the most impressive and beneficial one. Simone Petrucci, youth worker from Italy, also reassures that the experience gained during the project is invaluable: „I have participated in many projects and events, but this is one of the best. During 7 days spent in Lithuania, we had an opportunity to see a clear situation of non-formal education in this country”. S. Petrucci states that non-formal education is the only way of learning and practicing.
„Go Non Formal” is the first international project organized by „School of Success” that was dedicated not only to the youth, but also to youth workers dealing with young people‘s problems.
